Really Boring Movies

In honor of the Oscars, I will let you all know my opinion about movies. I have seen many movies in my life. What I don't understand is how people can like the movies that I have seen that absolutely STINK! So here is my unbiased opinion about movies that have won the Oscar. Okay, I am really only going to focus on one group of movies, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, or LOTR as the geek set likes to say. I am not interested in the fact that these movies were given critical acclaim. I am not interested that they made more money than only a handful of other movies. (No one ever compares how many tickets were sold. Of course these movies will make more money when the ticket costs $10 a pop instead of 10 cents.) I am interested in these movies working as movies with an interesting plot, likeable main characters, and an satisfying ending.

I will state at the outset that I have actually read the first book and tried to get through the second one. I have seen the first movie. I found the books to be just boring. Nothing much happened except some people were traveling. Yes, the goal was to save the world from evil, but it was a long boring journey. The plot of the movie was the same. The characters were also not interesting to me. I was watching the travels of so many characters, I didn't know any one of them very well. They were bring a ring somewhere but I didn't have a reason to care about middle earth. I really thought it would be best if Sauron (I think that is the bad guy) got the ring so everything could have end right away. That would be an ending, a sort of summing up of the story.

What really honks me off is the fact that my opinion on these movies is automatically taken as an affront to people who love and cherish middle earth as if it were a country next door. Contrary to popular belief, I like movies and fantasy books. I really enjoyed the prequel, The Hobbit. In that book, there was a main character with a role to fill. The trilogy didn't grab me in the same way. My opinion on this story has made those who do LOVE this story to assume I have a screw loose. If I hadn't seen any of the movies or read any of the books, I could see how my opinion would be worthless. However, I did try. I just didn't like them.

Here is what I have to say about what I saw tonight eminating from Hollywood. Just get over yourselves fantasy fans. I mean, come on, did you see the director at the Oscars? He looked like a troll himself. And what was with the woman who won for the song? Her hair was a prime example of a "Hair-Don't". It is not advisable to stick your finger in a light socket as a means of fixing your hair. Now, let us look at what all those wonderful 11 oscars weren't for: acting. Doesn't that tell you something? This was an adventure without heroes I could empathize with, without characters of depth. Again, the academy didn't ask me for my opinion and I won't be going to see any more of these LOTR movies.
